The Worm Pals Learning Kit originated from a community initiative created by Michaela called The WORM PALS Project, sponsored by The Students On Ice Foundation Microgrant Program. The initiative brought vermicomposting and worm education to 5 elementary school classrooms across Ottawa and Quebec. The project was so popular with participating teachers, we decided to expand the curriculum and make the program accessible to the greater community as our Worm Pals Learning Kit!
This Learning Kit includes:
- a DIY home-sized indoor/outdoor vermicomposting system with detailed instructions on how to set up and use
- red wiggler worms,
- a variety of storybooks on the topics of vermicomposting/sustainability/youth activism,
- an assortment of lesson plans/activity outlines for you to follow and build on,
- thorough instructions for the set up and care of the vermicomposting system,
- entrance into our Member’s-Only Facebook Community Page where you can share your journey, ask questions and .
These learning resources not only educate your children about sustainability and stewardship, but they link back to a diversity of subjects, including Science, Math, Business and English, not to mention Youth Activism and Resiliency.
